The Full Story

DULCE by Elise 

The idea for DULCE came when I saw a scene in "Sex and the City" where Carrie was eating a pink cupcake. I thought it was adorable and decided to try baking myself. In October 2007, I made my first vanilla cupcake and launched a home business that quickly took off. It soon expanded into birthday and wedding cakes. As more businesses used the name Dulce, I rebranded to Dulce by Elise.

I met my husband Joe in 1999 during a job interview—he hired me, and we fell in love. We now have three wonderful children, currently studying in the US, with two exploring culinary school.

Before moving to Jakarta, Joe and I ran a catering business in the US called Rice & Beans Productions—I was the Rice, he the Beans. The business continued in Jakarta, serving events for 30 to 300 guests, mostly in the expat community.

In 2017, we moved from a home kitchen to a full café setup near the main road, creating Dulce Café, with a bakery, restaurant, and gelato corner. It thrived during the pandemic thanks to online and takeaway orders.​​

After almost 8 years, we downsized Dulce Jakarta to a central kitchen for GoFood, GrabFood, and pre-orders. We also launched Gift Bake Boxes for special occasions and daily gifting.

Now in Bali, we’ve brought Dulce Café to the ground level of Anshel Hotel in Seminyak, offering amazing food. Upstairs is Don Pepe – Tacos, Beers, and Margaritas, with authentic tacos, tapas, and fresh drinks. We also launched Don Pepe’s Bajaj, a taco truck delivering Mexican flavors straight to your villa party.
